Assessor reports certificate-of-error counts and uncertainty on assessment publication timing

The assessor's office reported progress on county assessment tasks and said the timing for publishing assessments depends on receiving data from the next Supervisor of Assessments (SA) level. Nut graf: Assessor Abby told the committee that the office had 715 certificate-of-error (CV) counts and 34 board-review appeals currently recorded; staff are completing farmland and commercial assessment entries and splits/combinations, but the office does not yet know when assessments will be published because the county is not currently under contract with an SA and must await the next SA equalization step. "Our current CV count is 715, and we currently have 34 board review appeals turned in," Assessor Abby reported. She said the office has completed drainage-district debasement entries, commercial industrial assessments and other parcel adjustments and that staff expect to be ready to roll assessments when the SA data and equalization are available. "We do not have an SA contracted with the county, so we are unsure as to when we'll be rolling to the SA equalized level," she said. The assessor's interim report was placed on file and the assessor's bills were approved by the committee.
