Safety committee reports no new workers’ comp claims in July, emphasizes ergonomics training

The LaSalle County safety committee reported on Aug. 18 that there were no workers’ compensation claims in July, leaving the year‑to‑date total at 10 claims. Laura (last name not specified), the safety officer, said the committee’s monthly safety topic covered office ergonomics and that staff received training and demonstrations of ergonomic devices.

Laura described an employee engagement option from CCMSI called Tumiki, which allows department managers to send videos of workstations for a safety analysis and advice on monitor placement, seating and other adjustments. She said the committee also discussed the nursing home’s recent combative resident incident and offered to provide additional training support.

The safety committee noted an employee appreciation lunch planned for September and said general maintenance items raised during the meeting have been addressed.
