The Garden License Commission reviewed several pending and completed license applications and confirmed the 2026 renewal schedule.
Application updates: Staff reported that Sawah to Go had submitted a completed packet to the ABCC after staff received updated materials from Mary Beth at John Foote’s office; staff said the packet would be submitted to the ABCC for reconsideration later in the week. Solid Asian Cuisine’s transfer application was confirmed complete at the local level and is pending ABCC review. SouthGuard Mini Mart’s change of stock interest was approved by the commission and received ABCC approval on Aug. 13, 2025.
Renewal timeline: The ABCC provided the commission office with the 2026 annual retail license renewal applications. Staff said renewals will begin Nov. 1, 2025, and are due to the clerk by Nov. 30, 2025; letters and emails to licensees will be sent on Oct. 15, 2025. Staff confirmed that applicants also pay the ABCC application fee prior to submitting the state packet.
Other business and scheduling: The commission noted Acadia Social Club as a recent new hearing entry and discussed whether to reschedule the November meeting because the usual November date falls on Veterans Day. Staff said they would check room availability and the commission agreed to revisit scheduling at the October meeting.
Community concerns: Commissioners relayed concerns from recovery centers and community members about alcohol access at public events, noting complaints about attendees being near alcohol at a chair‑race event; commissioners said event layout and designated drinking areas should be reviewed when one‑day permits are issued.
No formal actions on individual pending packets were recorded beyond the items noted above; staff will follow up with the ABCC and include updates at future meetings.
