LaSalle County staff told the Land Use Committee on Sept. 3 that permit activity dipped in August and that the county has an electronics recycling event scheduled for Sept. 20. Brian (staff member) said the county issued 30 permits in August, including one new commercial accessory building and three new homes, and noted residential solar permits were down year‑over‑year.
“August, we had a total of 30 permits, in August issued. 1 new commercial, accessory building, 3 new homes,” Brian said. He added that residential solar permits numbered four in August, a slowdown from the prior year.
On solid waste and recycling, Brian reported 11 solid‑waste inspections last month: two permitted‑site inspections, seven reinspections and two complaint inspections. “Had a total of 11 inspections, 2 permitted site, 7 reinspections, 2 complaint inspections,” he said. Staff also said the county is closing many historic cases and that complaints overall are down this year.
The county’s electronics recycling event is set for Sept. 20; highway and township road districts will assist by collecting drop‑offs ahead of the event. Staff said they are checking schedules for a separate tire‑collection event and exploring partnerships with groups such as Farm Bureau; the cost and arrangements for a tires event vary by partner.
The committee voted to place the monthly construction permit report, the enforcement inspection report, and the IEPA inspection report on file. The motion to place the reports on file passed by voice vote.
Ending: Staff said they will confirm the electronics event logistics and follow up on the tire collection schedule; staff will report back on pick‑up dates and any partner arrangements before the events.
