The Hamlin Select Board voted Monday to approve two staffing recommendations from the town administrator and hiring committee: to offer the part-time accountant position to Elise David and the facilities manager position to Herb Foley, both contingent on favorable reference and background checks. The town administrator said the accountant recruitment drew 16 applications; four candidates were interviewed and the hiring team (town administrator, treasurer-collector and assistant collector) made a unanimous recommendation to extend an offer to Elise David. The position is advertised at 15 to 20 hours per week; staff said the candidate indicated willingness to work multiple in-office days so colleagues can coordinate on municipal accounting tasks. The facilities manager recruitment drew 29 applicants; seven were offered interviews, five accepted, and four were interviewed. The hiring panel—including the town administrator, Select Board Chair Flynn and Highway Superintendent Mark Langone—unanimously recommended Herb Foley, whose familiarity with the building and stated intention to remain in the position for the long term were cited by the panel as decisive factors. Offers for both positions were approved by voice vote, with terms to be finalized in offer letters and the hires starting after successful background and reference checks.
