City council removes Flicks in the Park from proposed budget; committee work plan headed to council

Committee staff told the Fairview Community Events Committee that City Council has indicated it will not continue Flicks in the Park and that the committee’s draft work plan will be on the council agenda for consideration next week.
Paul Copeland, the council liaison, had raised the community‑events committee’s recommendations at the council discussion, and staff said councilors “did concur with your recommendation not to continue with Flicks in the Park.” Committee members were advised that Flicks in the Park is not included in the city’s proposed budget for the coming fiscal year.
Annie Clark distributed a draft work plan prepared from council feedback and asked committee members to review it before council’s consideration. Clark told the group that the work plan covers the fiscal year beginning July 1 and that council will have an opportunity to adopt it or request amendments.
There was no formal committee vote at the meeting to change the work plan; staff asked members to submit edits by email so those changes could be incorporated before council consideration.
