Fairview’s Public Safety Advisory Committee prioritized a slate of public-facing activities for the remainder of 2025, identifying cybersecurity education, personal-safety outreach, a communications plan and a community cleanup as the committee’s top non-recurring projects.
The committee placed a finance-education briefing first among items requiring city staff coordination, then ranked outreach and events: an education event (cybersecurity suggested for October), a communications plan (monthly or quarterly safety tips or a newsletter), and a community cleanup (suggested for August). “I really enjoyed the FBI training session for cybersecurity… that would be my top priorities beyond what's already been listed here,” one member said.
Members discussed formats and venues: repeat the cybersecurity program with multiple short presentations or several vendors sharing 20–45 minute slots; hold personal-safety demonstrations or scheduled gazebo performances at Fairview on the Green; and use prepared flyers or social-media posts to push monthly safety tips via city channels. Committee volunteers offered to create materials using a design template (Canva) and have staff share them on official social media and communications channels.
The group also decided to keep grant-writing off the immediate work plan because members judged it a heavy lift requiring substantial staff coordination; they asked that committee members flag potential grants for future discussion. Staff will update the committee calendar and circulate a revised schedule by email.
