Fairview PSAC confirms May 10 shred event; organizers finalizing volunteer shifts and logistics

The Public Safety Advisory Committee for the city of Fairview confirmed plans for a community shred event scheduled for Saturday, May 10, and worked through volunteer staffing, equipment and site-access logistics at its meeting.
The committee said Free Geek has agreed to participate and the city has scheduled the shred truck; remaining items are volunteer assignments and access to supplies and storage. “From what I understand from emails, I think we're all scheduled and ready to go. Everything is, I think Free Geek is online and ready to proceed. The city has got the shred truck leave scheduled and ready to move along,” Chair Kyle said.
Committee members discussed proposed volunteer shifts (morning and afternoon), tent and table setup, and who holds keys to the storage area and recycling/trash access codes. The committee identified morning and afternoon shift volunteers and agreed to confirm a key-holder and the code for the recycling/trash area before the event.
The committee agreed the schedule will list 9:30 a.m. to noon and noon to 2:30 p.m. shifts on the volunteer sign-up, with an overall end time of 2:30 p.m. to allow for takedown. One committee member said the 2:30 p.m. end time accounts for cleanup and returning tents and supplies to storage.
No formal vote was required for the event planning. Members asked staff to confirm logistics by email and to verify that Free Geek and the shred truck remain confirmed in the days before the event.
