Fairview formally introduced Anne Baker as the city’s new finance director at the Feb. 5 council meeting and staff described immediate priorities to modernize recordkeeping and complete the city’s budget load into Tyler Technologies.
"I'm really excited to to start working for the city," Anne Baker said, identifying herself as the new finance director on her third day on the job. Councilors and staff said Baker will focus on loading the city's financial systems, catching up unpaid vendor invoices and reducing paper‑based workflows.
City staff reported that Tyler Technologies, the city's financial software, had been only partially implemented and that many processes remain paper‑based. A staff presenter said the city still uses printed invoices and paper time cards in multiple handoffs and that some vendor invoices dating back to 2013 had not been paid. That speaker described "a tremendous amount of waste in processing" and said staff will prioritize loading the remaining financial modules and reconciling outstanding items.
Councilors asked for regular updates on the work and for a concise summary of the city’s financial position once the system is current. Baker and city managers said they would provide further details as they complete account access and data migration. Baker said she looks forward to "getting everything back on track again." The council did not take any budget action at the meeting; staff said they will report progress and provide updated financials after system completion.
