County staff announced a temporary reduction in public hours at the animal-control facility because of reduced staffing. Staff said the office will be open to the public Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday hours will remain 9 a.m. to noon; the office will be closed to walk-in public service on Wednesdays until staffing improves. A staff member said the county has experienced staff leave and part-time worker departures and that the chief animal warden recommended the temporary schedule change to help existing staff “stay ahead.” The staff member said the warden “is still on call 24/7” and described the hours change as temporary while the department addresses staffing. The county plans to issue a media notice to inform the public and asked residents to be patient. No vote or board action was required; the change was described as an operational decision by animal-control management.
