Effingham County board approves consent agenda, awards audit contract to West and Company LLC

The Effingham County Board approved its August consent agenda at its regular meeting, including the award of the county audit RFQ to West and Company LLC and several small funding and appointment items. The consent agenda bundled minutes and monthly reports, appointments to drainage districts and township boards, approval of the Effingham County Courtyard Pavilion name, earmarking $2,588.89 in ARPA funds for a flagpole at the government center and $1,500 in hotel/motel funds for the Corvette Fund Fest. The consent agenda consolidated routine business so the board could act with a single motion. Approving the RFQ for county audit services commits the county to contract negotiations with the selected firm pending standard procurement steps. Jeremy Daeters moved to approve the consent agenda; Chris Keller seconded the motion. The clerk recorded a roll-call vote with all members present voting yes: Norbert Saltwiedle, Josh Douthit, Tim Ellis, Dave Campbell, Chris Keller, Mike Buzzard, Doug McCain, Sandy Rich and Jeremy Daeters. The clerk’s packet also shows the county holiday schedule for fiscal year 2026 and other routine committee reports. The board did not take any additional action on the consent items at the meeting; the approvals were recorded as passed by roll call.
