Kurt, traffic operations lead, told the Transportation Committee on Aug. 19 that the county received two qualified bids for a three‑year electrical maintenance contract covering traffic signals and lighting for FY2026–FY2028. Staff said neither bidder met the county’s RBO guideline thresholds but both are prequalified contractors with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). Staff recommended the award to preserve system reliability and to authorize routine repairs and maintenance. The committee moved and seconded the recommendation and approved it by roll call. Ending: Staff will administer the contract and treat any insurance claims for vandalism or crash damage under established procedures. No dollar amount was stated at the committee meeting.
