“The details that we have in the report do show a pretty nice reduction in crashes due to that high friction surface treatment that we put down, and the additional street lighting has helped with the, nighttime crashes that we’ve had,” Director Long of DOTE said. “So we’re excited that some of the countermeasures that we’ve implemented have done a nice job.”
Owens told the committee the street‑calming item came at the request of Council member Johnson and Vice Mayor Kearney and covered measures installed in a specific concentrated block in Mount Airy.
