Cincinnati City Council approved two grants from the Ohio Department of Transportation to fund pedestrian-safety improvements at multiple locations, including near the University of Cincinnati and the intersection of Reading Road and Summit Road in Roselawn.
Council member Jeffries described the first grant as about $1.5 million to address a location near UC that had experienced multiple crashes, including incidents involving students. The second grant was described to council as roughly $1.0 million to make safety improvements at Reading and Summit in Roselawn. Both grants were described by council and administration as federally or state-funded ODOT projects administered by the city.
Council members commended ODOT and city staff for prioritizing pedestrian safety and voted unanimously on emergency suspension and passage for both grants.
Ending: Administration will work with ODOT to design and implement safety measures at the described locations; council thanked staff and partners for the grants.
