The Board of Metropolitan Police Commissioners accepted a memorandum of understanding (MOU) resolving a grievance filed by the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) over promotional policy changes adopted May 9, 2025, and ratified the department's promotional list for corporals and sergeants.

The commission's counsel told the board that the grievance was timely filed concerning the May 9, 2025 promotional policy changes. A meeting to resolve the grievance included the town president, the commission president, local FOP members (at least five), and a state FOP representative. Counsel said the meeting lasted more than an hour and a half and ended with the FOP indicating it would withdraw the grievance and the parties executing a signed MOU effective through the end of the year.
