Maryville — Town staff reported on Aug. 12 that the Southside fire station design is progressing and the town expects to begin bidding in early 2026, with construction under the current schedule starting in March 2026 and a possible opening in spring 2027.
Chaz, a town administration staff member, said Chief Yerga met last week with the project design team and that the planned building will include living quarters and apparatus space for the fire department and space for the street department’s salt barn. "Under their current schedule, bidding could start in early '26 with construction following in March," Chaz said, describing the timeline.
No formal council action was required; the presentation was an informational update. Town officials said the mixed-use station design — apparatus bays, living quarters and space to store street department equipment — is intended to improve operational coordination and create efficiencies for maintenance and winter operations.
Town Manager Michael Griffin was referenced as part of project leadership, and staff said they will return to the council with procurement documents and a formal bid schedule when design and permitting milestones are complete.
