District staff reported the school year will begin after Labor Day and the board set upcoming meeting dates.
Dr. Mueller, the district administrator, told the Hohman Board of Education, “Today was our first day. We had many of our staff back and they are very busy, unpacking and getting ready, preparing for the return of our students.”
Dr. Mueller said the district welcomed 22 new teachers at last week’s orientation and that a staff kickoff will be held in the gymnasium with breakfast starting at 7 a.m. and a ceremony at 8 a.m. He said students’ first day will be Tuesday, Sept. 2. The district plans to publish times for community tours and ribbon cuttings later in the month once operations are settled.
During board debrief, members extended welcome-back remarks. The board chair announced the next three regular meetings are scheduled for Sept. 8, Sept. 22 and Oct. 13. On Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. the board will hold a budget hearing followed by the annual meeting and a regular meeting.
The meeting moved toward a closed session at the end of the excerpt; the transcript included the motion being read but did not record a vote in the portion provided.
