New technology director named; replacement of aging classroom displays scoped

The HR Business Services Committee heard on Sept. 8 that Greg Krueger began as the district’s new director of technology in August and has engaged in transition discussions with the prior interim leader. “Transition discussions occurred between the new director and the prior interim department leader,” the report said. The technology report said the department is defining the scope of a project to replace aging classroom display technology in secondary schools (smart boards and projectors). Staff noted the technology levy that did not pass would have provided funding for some of those upgrades: “I—d be remiss if I didn't, again, comment about the levy that didn't pass,” the presenter said. District technology staff also reported preparing devices and systems for the start of school and managing the departure of a network administrator/architect through training and role definition. No formal funding decision was made at the committee meeting; the district said it will plan next steps for display replacement and work within available resources.
