Board authorizes independent expulsion hearings, reappoints hearing officer and medical adviser

During its Aug. 11 meeting the Waunakee board completed several routine annual administrative appointments: authorization to use an independent hearing officer for expulsions, continuation of John Anderson of Hughes Blackwell as the districts hearing officer, and approval of Dr. Random as the district medical adviser.
Joan asked for a motion to authorize use of an independent hearing officer for expulsions; the board approved the authorization by roll call. Carly, Joan (self-identified), Ted, Mark, Heather and Chris each responded "aye" on the roll call; Dawn was absent. The board then moved to continue using John Anderson of Hughes Blackwell as the expulsion hearing officer; that recommendation carried on a voice vote.
The board also approved the districts medical adviser, Dr. Random, who serves the district clinic and oversees athletic coverage. That appointment was approved by voice vote with no recorded dissent.
