Norfolk administrators tour district departments during Operations Day to see support services

As part of an Operations Day organized by Norfolk Public Schools, several administrators rode a school bus and toured support departments including school nutrition, facilities management, athletics, transportation and the district print shop to learn how operations fit into school mission and daily routines.

One administrator who came from a high school background said they did not realize "how much goes on behind the scenes or in other areas in order to make our high school run," noting the opportunity to see students "at nutrition" and to learn about services beyond their building. Another attendee said the tours helped connect staff who may only interact by email and enabled them to "actually see their place of business" to better understand how services affect students.
