Council approves purchase of dump truck and fleet vehicles for public works and solid waste

The council approved multiple vehicle purchases Sept. 2 to replace aging equipment in the Public Works and Solid Waste divisions.

Approved purchases: The council approved purchase of a 2026 HX260 International dump truck from Roberts International Trucks for $210,450 to replace an older model in the Solid Waste Division; staff said funding will come from solid waste disposal reserve funds and insurance reimbursement. The council also approved purchase of a 2025 Ford F-150 SuperCab XL for $41,001.78 and a 2026 F-250 Super Duty utility truck for $55,253 from J.C. Lewis Ford for the water and sewer division; those purchases were included in the FY2026 capital improvement budget.

Why it matters: The purchases replace older vehicles to maintain city operations in solid waste collection and water and sewer maintenance. Staff said the vehicles are budgeted and recommended the purchases.

Council action: The council approved the purchases after staff presented the items and recommended approval. Staff noted the replacement nature of the purchases and that funding sources were identified in the capital and reserve budgets.
