Council adopts preliminary resolution to extend sewer to two Bailey Street parcels

The Waupaca Common Council on Aug. 19 adopted a preliminary resolution (No. 1579) declaring intent to levy special assessments to extend municipal sewer service from North Street to two adjacent vacant parcels at 345 Bailey Street. Public Works Director Justin Behrens said the extension includes roughly 100 feet of new sewer main, a new manhole and stubs for the two parcels. The parcels are currently served by private septic; city ordinance discourages new private septic where municipal sewer is available, and the extension will enable new construction on the lots, he said. Behrens said the notice and plan were published and posted; the public hearing produced no public comment. He added the engineering report and plan show a stub to the south to permit a future extension to other vacant parcels on Bailey Street should development occur.
