Facilities committee gets bond update for East Elementary, Forest Hills and East Union renovation

The facilities committee received an update on bond-funded school construction and renovation projects, including East Elementary, Forest Hills and the East Union (Old Forest Hills) renovation. Miss Imo, a staff member, told the committee the buildings have been opened but that punch-list work remains, including completion of sidewalks, driveways and premium project items. "While we have opened those structures, there still are items that we're working through, punch list, completion of sidewalks, driveways, and then some of the premium project items," Imo said. The committee asked for a timeline. Imo said she would provide a more complete timeline and described several near-term items at East Elementary: the car-rider loop outside the main parking lot is expected to be completed within three weeks, grading on the hill for the play field is continuing, and an outdoor classroom is being installed. "They're going to work to complete that car rider loop that is outside of the main parking lot within the next 3 weeks," Imo said. Imo added that some schedule elements are weather-contingent but that the projects were ahead of an initial December plan: "you know, some of it is weather contingent, obviously, but we are ahead of schedule to that initial plan of December." On the East Union (Old Forest Hills) renovation, staff provided renderings and said they are finishing prequalification with RCM and preparing to put the project out to bid. Imo also said a request for qualifications for the Forest Hills athletic portion is in draft and will be released publicly. The committee did not take formal action on these items and asked staff to supply a more detailed schedule for members to review ahead of the next meeting.
