Board accepts community donations, lists donors including Target employee-giving and Costco

The ISD 191 Board of Education adopted a resolution Aug. 28, 2025, to accept donations made to the district and permit their use as designated by donors, citing compliance with board policy and Minnesota statutes.
Superintendent Dr. Latanya Daniels read a list of donors and thanked community partners, saying, "We are so grateful for your support." She named Pamela Hanson, Suzanne Carlblum, Gerald and Jane Kaplan, Gary and Lavonna King, Paula Nordham, James Calkins, the Target employee giving program, the Ron Elementary PTO, the Mighty Cause Foundation, Costco Wholesale, Hidden Valley Elementary, and North Star Roses (an affiliate interest group of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.). Daniels highlighted donations that supported the district's Brainpower and Backpack program and school-supply drives.
Because the resolution required a roll-call vote, district clerk Sarah called the roll. Directors Hume, Mickelson, Ault, Chair Werb, Chester, Anderson and Saxe each responded "Aye." The resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
The board approved acceptance of gifts in accordance with district policy and Minnesota statutes and authorized their use as donors designated; the board did not specify dollar amounts or itemized values during the public meeting.
