Policy committee seeks updated audit from StrausSMA; trustee volunteers to lead follow-up

The Hawthorne Board of Education’s policy committee reported it had reviewed the district’s prior 2021–22 policy audit and determined that while the district is not in as poor a state as originally believed, several policies still need updating. The committee said it will request an updated policy audit from StrausSMA, the vendor the district currently pays for policy services.
Committee members discussed bringing StrausSMA back to help identify needed updates and sustain ongoing maintenance. Trustee Vega told the committee she has experience related to policy work and “has graciously volunteered to help spearhead this campaign to keep us on track,” the committee report said.
The committee said it will provide updates to the full board as the StrausSMA engagement is confirmed.
