The Louisville City Council approved, by unanimous vote, a special‑use permit on Sept. 9 allowing a minor automotive service (mobile detailing) to occupy a 750‑square‑foot portion of an existing building at 519 Bennett Lane.
Staff reported the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval 7‑0. The applicant, Echo Powell Mobile Detailing LLC, requested the SUP to permit the business in the Light Industrial district; staff said the use will be limited to 750 square feet, will not permit outdoor vehicle storage or outdoor repairs, and will not allow any outside storage as conditions of the SUP. Planning Director Richard Lukey said the unit is located in the southern portion of the northern building and “will not be near the street.”
Why it matters: the SUP allows a minor automotive service use in an industrial building with conditions meant to limit visual and neighborhood impacts. Council closed the public hearing and approved the ordinance 6–0.
No public speakers commented on the item during the hearing; staff and the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval with the stated conditions.
