Commissioners on Aug. 21 asked staff and the police chief to evaluate traffic calming measures for a neighborhood street after residents reported vehicles speeding and several cats being struck and killed. Commissioner Joseph said residents reported that the road near the triangle by Temple Benezion and just west of St. Mary Magdalene is unsafe at night and that pet fatalities and near‑misses had occurred. He asked whether speed humps or increased policing could be pursued. City staff said they would confer with the Police Department on patrol options and noted they had previously reached out to the county regarding speed‑hump requests and were awaiting feedback. Commissioners requested the chief review the area for speed‑hump feasibility and increased enforcement; staff said they would include the street in pending traffic‑calming evaluations. No specific traffic‑calming device was approved at the Aug. 21 meeting and staff will report back with recommendations.
