Manassas Park City Schools board approved certification of the district's school crisis, emergency management and medical emergency response plans for the 2025 6 school year at the meeting; presenters said the plans follow state requirements and that portions will be withheld from public release for safety reasons.

School crisis plans outline procedures, assignments and operations required to prevent, manage and respond to critical events, the presenter said, and the district uses a common template that each school fills in with site-specific details. "We are officially requesting for the board to certify our school crisis plans for the 20 25, 20 26 school year," the presenter told the board.

The presenter said the development of each school's plan includes the chief law enforcement officer, the fire chief and the locality's emergency management official or their designees, and that the local school board retains authority to withhold or limit public review of security plans and vulnerability assessments as provided by Virginia Code. "We withhold those plans from the public because, obviously, we don't wanna give out what our plan is if someone comes in," the presenter said, adding that board members may request to review copies through the district office.

Board members moved and seconded certification of the plans; the board recorded the motion, a second and a voice vote in favor. The motion passed. The presenter said no visual accompanied the briefing and that the materials provided to the board were a template and school-level plans based on that template. No member asked for further public release of the withheld security details during the meeting.

The decision formalizes the district's annual review process and keeps operational security details limited to authorized reviewers, while preserving the board's access to full plans on request.
