District staff presented June financials showing major fund balances and project expenditures; administrators reported elementary campus security camera upgrades are complete at two campuses and largely finished at a third ahead of school start.
The Burleson Independent School District Board of Trustees on Aug. 11 received the district’s June financial report and heard an update that elementary campus security camera upgrades will be complete except for locations affected by ongoing construction.
Finance presenter Brenda Mize said June marks the last monthly financials for the 2024–25 fiscal year and auditors will return in September for field work; final fiscal-year numbers will be presented in November. Mize reported general fund revenues at about $118 million (90 percent collected) and expenditures near $126 million, noting state revenue near-final payments are expected in September.
Mize gave fund-specific figures: food service revenues around $7 million with expenditures roughly $7.7 million; debt service revenues roughly $39.4 million and expenditures about $49.7 million due to a defeasance in May; special revenue funds were at about 66 percent expended with $7.6 million spent to date. She said capital outlay includes the Mound project at approximately $1.4 million and that capital project beginning and ending balances reflect ongoing activity.
Separately, a facilities or operations presenter reported that camera upgrades at Frazier and Hike elementary campuses are complete and the Mound installation is in progress; most cameras that can be upgraded at Mound will be done by the end of the next day, with a handful delayed because of construction.
Mize also summarized quarterly investment yields and said the district remains invested in pools with a current yield of about 4.44 percent; staff will revisit investment options if market conditions change.
The board approved routine consent items and payments over $10,000 listed in the packet. The auditors’ final work in September will allow staff to present audited fiscal-year figures at the November meeting.
