Haslet staff reports rapid progress on fire station, retail and large warehouses; Fort Worth funding linked to sewer oversizing

City staff gave the Haslet Economic Development Corporation a construction and infrastructure update that covered public-safety, retail and industrial projects and a joint sewer project with Fort Worth. A staff member said the Hazlet fire station expansion drawings were included in the report and described two shell office buildings under construction near the women’s clinic, one with foundations and one sheathed in green ZIP system board. The report noted a QuikTrip near the Schoolhouse Road and FM 156 intersection with canopies and fueling islands in place and visible progress on bricking. Staff said three sizable warehouses by Stream Realty are under construction north of Pask, east of Intermodal and south of Haslet Parkway, including one 400,000-square-foot building that had signage previously. City staff also noted a preliminary plat for another nearly 1,000,000-square-foot spec building passed through planning and zoning. On infrastructure, the staff update described a sewer replacement along Belle Grama that involved going under a road and moving a line to avoid a fence, and a wastewater line project along the creek between Schoolhouse Road and Westport Parkway. Staff said the wastewater work is a joint project with Fort Worth; Fort Worth is funding the oversizing because it needs the extra capacity, and the line happens to run through Haslet to reach the TRA line. The council also mentioned that a concrete batch plant (approved with a special-use permit) for North Glen Phase 3 will be prepared for about a two-week pour when activated. Board members asked about bridge and walking-trail work by the railroad and sought clarification on whether smaller facilities on FM 156 are investor-owned leases or owner-occupied; staff said at least one of two spaces at 1096 Schoolhouse Road already has a tenant. A board member asked for engineering schematics and traffic-study results for the Blue Mound and FM 156 intersections to identify potential rights-turn lane additions; staff confirmed a traffic study and said schematics exist and will be provided to the board.
