The Burleson Independent School District Board of Trustees on Aug. 11 approved a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Education Service Center Region 11 to continue partnership support for implementing high-quality instructional materials through the Learning Acceleration Support Systems (LASO) Strong Foundations implementation (Cycle 3).
Dr. Stacia Pierce presented the recommendation and described the MOU as a continuation of a partnership that the district used last year under grant funding to support instructional implementation. She said the MOU will provide technical assistance for evidence-based instructional materials and is included in the board packet.
"This evening, I'm bringing, to you a recommendation to, partner with Region 11. We are continuing a partnership that we had done last year, as well to, through grant funding for support to implement instructional materials, high quality, and that is in your board book," Dr. Pierce said.
Trustees voted to approve the MOU; the motion passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition. The MOU is intended to facilitate district access to Region 11's services for implementation support under the Strong Foundations Cycle 3 strand and to align grant-funded activities with district instructional priorities.
District staff said the partnership continues prior-year work and will support teachers and campuses in rolling out materials and practices funded by grant awards. Trustees approved the MOU as presented and directed staff to proceed with the partnership.
