Under the change staff described, the effective posting window compresses the prior 72-hour practice into a three-business-day calculation; because the council meets on Tuesdays, staff illustrated how the new schedule can compress posting to Wednesday for the subsequent meeting and leave limited time for review, packet preparation and public notice. Staff urged departments and council offices to plan ahead and submit items earlier.
Council members acknowledged the change and staff said they will adjust internal calendars. Staff cautioned that some items that arrive late may not be able to be placed on the next meeting’s agenda due to the posting requirement.
