City public works staff briefed the Odessa City Council on Sept. 9 about bids for the French Avenue reconstruction project from East Highway 80 to Brittany Lane and reported the lowest responsive bidder at $691,965.01, within the project budget.
The project is described as a full-depth reconstruction that will install approximately 1,000 square yards of 8-inch reinforced concrete and replace about 6,400 square yards of adjacent asphalt. Staff said the work will improve roadway drainage and the contract timeline anticipates completion in 90 working days. Funds are available in the street division maintenance of infrastructure account.
Staff opened bids on Aug. 27; two responsive bids were received. Staff said they will return with final award details and answer council questions about schedule and execution. Council asked about the start date and staff replied the project would start roughly within a month after award to allow contract execution.
No formal award vote was taken in the workshop; staff presented the bid information for council discussion and future action at a formal meeting.
