Alpharetta’s council on Sept. 8 authorized the city to continue renting, installing and removing patented vehicle-barricade systems from Meridian Rapid Defense Group LLC for FY26 special events, citing successful deployment and public-safety benefits.
Staff said the city deployed the Meridian system successfully during a Jan. 1, 2025 event where a vehicle accessed an event area via sidewalk; the system was again used at the 2025 Taste of Alpharetta. Because Meridian’s system is patented and the city received a sole-source determination, staff recommended continuing to rent the system for upcoming FY26 events (Taste of Alpharetta, Wire & Wood, Brew Moon) at a not-to-exceed cost of $77,479.93.
Council voted unanimously to approve the acquisition and authorized the mayor to execute necessary documents.
