Supervisors award contracts for sheriff’s replacement vehicles and turf sprayer for sports complex

Henry County officials approved a set of procurement contracts on Aug. 26 to replace high‑mileage sheriff’s vehicles and to buy grounds equipment for parks and recreation.
The board accepted the sheriff’s request to award three contracts totaling $470,866: $344,525 to Haley Ford for seven 2026 Ford Police Interceptor all‑wheel‑drive utility vehicles for the patrol division; $86,600 to Haley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for two Dodge Durango vehicles for investigations; and $39,741 to RK Chevrolet for a 2025 Chevrolet 2,500 Express cargo van for bridal services. Pricing was based on the Virginia Sheriff’s Association vehicle procurement program; funding for the purchases was included in the FY2026 budget.
In a separate item, the parks and recreation director asked the board to award a $56,915 contract to Smith Turf and Irrigation to purchase a self‑contained turf sprayer for the Smith River Sports Complex; funding for that purchase is also in the FY2026 budget. The board approved both motions 6-0.
County staff said lieutenant colonel Harrison and other department representatives were present to answer questions during the session. The items were presented as routine replacement purchases to retire high‑mileage units and upgrade maintenance equipment at county recreation facilities.
