The Select Board unanimously approved a temporary waiver Aug. 20 allowing CC Construction to begin work at 7:00 a.m. for the Surfside Area Transportation Enhancement Project during the summer moratorium.
Town staff said CC Construction requested the change so crews could take advantage of morning daylight while performing drainage, road reconstruction, bike path construction and related utility work that crosses town limits. The requested waiver covers Sept. 2–14 and would allow the contractor to start daily operations at 7:00 a.m. rather than the 7:30 a.m. start normally required under the summer noise moratorium.
Contractors who travel to and from the island said the 30‑minute head start would help logistics and reduce overall daily work time. The board’s motion to approve the waiver was made by Commissioner Brooke Moore and seconded; the vote was unanimous.
Town staff will monitor compliance with the waiver, and the change applies only during the specified moratorium period and the dates requested by CC Construction.
