The Historic District Commission approved revisions at 4 Easy Street that remove the narrow front porch and enclose the side porch, contingent on clarified drawings showing accurate roof/cheek‑wall detailing, true divided‑light windows in a Nantucket profile, and final color choice to be either Quaker Gray or Nantucket Gray (applicant’s election).
The applicant presented a revised package that omitted a previously shown dormer, enclosed the side porch, and proposed replacing two small vents with true‑divided light windows. Preservation advisors and commissioners asked for clearer plans showing the actual cheek wall (not a represented hip roof) where the porch is being enclosed, manufacturer and section details for windows, and explicit annotation that new windows will match existing historic sashes where appropriate.
The HDC approved the design with an amendment to permit the applicant to choose between two gray tones for body color (Quaker Gray or Nantucket Gray) with white sash/trim specified; commissioners also asked the applicant to provide a final annotated drawing as Exhibit A and a commitment to true divided light windows in a Nantucket profile for the added openings. The motion carried unanimously.
Staff will record the chosen color and expect annotated drawings and window details for the final file.
