Sankey Golf Club demolition plan continued while Natural Heritage reviews restoration plan

The Nantucket Conservation Commission continued a notice-of-intent application for demolition and site restoration at Sankey Golf Club, 18 Hawkes Hollow Road, to its Sept. 18 meeting so Massachusetts Natural Heritage can finish its review. Leo Asadorian, presenting for the applicant, apologized for confusion at the prior meeting and said Natural Heritage had not completed its review: "It's still under review," he said, and he asked the commission to continue the item until the next meeting if the review was not complete.

Asadorian told commissioners he had submitted a demolition plan and a restoration plan prepared by a consultant and that Natural Heritage had received the materials. He said the plan remains a "permitting plan, not issue for construction," and noted that utility locations identified by ground-penetrating radar still need to be added so contractors will know where underground utilities are located. The commission agreed to continue the hearing to Sept. 18 so Natural Heritage can complete its review and the applicant can supply missing details.

The continuance was procedural: commissioners had no substantive questions and no members of the public rose to comment. No permit was issued at the Sept. 4 meeting; the commission will take up the application again on Sept. 18 when the applicant may provide updated materials or respond to Natural Heritage's comments.
