Cheshire council approves revised Neighborhood Assistance Act applications for Hometown Foundation

Cheshire, Conn. — The Cheshire Town Council unanimously approved revised applications from the Hometown Foundation under the Connecticut Neighborhood Assistance Act at its Sept. 9 meeting.
Town Manager Sean M. Kimball said the town’s role in the program is administrative: the state requires organizations that complete all originally approved program expenses but still have remaining eligible funds to submit a revised application to the municipality and to the Department of Revenue Services. Kimball told the council the revised Hometown Foundation submissions cover additional eligible expenses from the 2022 and 2023 program years and that the public hearing was required before the town forwards the revised applications to the state.
After Kimball’s short presentation the council took the item under new business and approved resolution 090925‑3 to accept the revised Hometown Foundation submissions for the Department of Revenue Services process. Councilor Tricia Kramer moved the resolution; Councilor Dina Allard seconded. The vote was unanimous.
What happens next: The town will forward the approved revised application to the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services for state consideration. The Neighborhood Assistance Act is a state tax‑credit program that requires municipal review and a public hearing before the state accepts revised project submissions.
