Krista (committee member and project subcommittee contact) told the Affordable Housing Committee that she had presented the proposed consultant contract to the Board of Selectmen and that the board “overwhelmingly, it was approved.” The contract is for $29,500 and covers a study of three sites the project subcommittee has identified as potential locations for future affordable housing.
Krista said she and town staff have worked with the town attorney and the consultant to resolve contract wording and that she anticipated a forthcoming project‑subcommittee meeting to introduce the consultant and discuss the scope of work. She told committee members she would “figure out how to get this signed” and would schedule a meeting and a call with the Amenta/EMA contact to outline next steps.
The committee also discussed broader dissemination of the August letter the committee previously sent to the state delegation. Members recommended adding a short preamble that explains 05/00/2002 (HB 5002) and middle housing in accessible language before wider public distribution or an op‑ed, and they asked that the county delegation, the governor's staff and relevant Hartford committee leaders receive the letter.
Members asked the project subcommittee to watch email for scheduling and to prepare for an early meeting with the consultant. No additional votes were recorded at the meeting; Krista said she will report back at a future meeting with an update after the contract is signed and the initial consultant call is held.
