The Riverview Community School District Board of Education approved on July 22 a contract to repair concrete issues discovered beneath the middle school gym floor after seating was removed.
District staff reported that removal of seating revealed the concrete beneath the wood floor needed leveling and repairs to cracks and holes. The district collected informal quotes from three firms: Sport Floor Refinishing ($25,600), SCI Flooring ($29,500) and Atlantic Sport Floors ($33,605). Staff recommended awarding the work to Sport Floor Refinishing in an amount not to exceed $25,600.
Motion and vote: Trustee Toth moved to award the contract to Sport Floor Refinishing; Trustee O'Brien supported the motion. A roll call vote recorded approval among members present: Vice President Matt Diminsky (yes), Trustee O'Brien (yes), President Tim Boer (yes), Trustee Toth (yes) and Treasurer Davis (yes).
Next steps: The board authorized the work to proceed with Sport Floor Refinishing at the approved cost; staff will oversee completion and payment from the appropriate maintenance budget.
