City staff presented a community request to place a state championship sign for Gabriel Bouchard on a city entrance pole under a special-event permit.
A staff member said the sign would be privately purchased and installed by city crews on a municipal pole at a city entrance (Pennsylvania Road was identified as a likely location). Staff recommended the applicants provide a mock-up showing size and mounting details and suggested the fastest permitting route would be a special-event approval rather than a longer county process.
Councilmembers generally supported the idea and asked to see the sign size and mounting plan before granting final approval; one councilmember cautioned that centralized sign displays in other communities had been subject to vandalism and suggested a single metal sign on a pole may be more durable.
Staff said they will request a mock-up and mounting details and return to council for final approval.
