A member of the Junior Major League Board of Directors told the Milford Board of Aldermen on Sept. 8 that she had not received final plans or promised accommodations for youth baseball before work on the downtown Founders Walk project was scheduled to begin Sept. 29.
Carol Thomas said she had reviewed minutes for 11 Founders Walk Committee meetings since 2022 and learned they were not submitted to the city clerk until July 8, 2025. Thomas said the committee’s minutes and promised items — including netting and fencing for fields — were not reflected in the most recent plan and that, as a committee member, she had not seen a final design.
She said Director of Public Works Chris Sealy (as cited in meeting minutes) had indicated the roadway downtown would start on Sept. 29. Thomas asked the board to ensure there is an aldermanic liaison and that plans include the safety measures promised to youth sports groups.
Other speakers representing local leagues supported Thomas’s request that the city follow through on promised safety features and provide final plans to stakeholders before construction begins.
The board did not announce a new timeline or changes to the project during the meeting; Thomas asked that the city provide the outstanding documentation and include Board of Aldermen liaisons on committee agendas going forward.
