Riverview board meeting spotlights student achievements, launches districtwide reading initiative April 1

Student athletes, clubs and school programs took center stage at the Riverview Community School District board meeting on March 18, where the district also announced a districtwide literacy initiative beginning April 1.
Superintendent Hatzel and Athletic Director DeBrano recognized varsity wrestler Madison Lipchick, a junior and first-year wrestler who qualified for the Michigan state finals at Ford Field in early March and competed as one of the final 16 at her weight. Jason Dodd, varsity wrestling head coach, said Lipchick also won the Allen Park Girls Invitational, was girls district champion and regional runner-up; she also wrestled on the boys varsity team and recorded 10 wins, including five by pinfall.
