District announces two teachers earned tenure; board recognized their service

Riverview Community School District officials announced Feb. 25 that two teachers have earned tenure after completing their probationary periods.
Superintendent Hatzel introduced the recognitions during the board’s presentations. Sean Gill, Seats Middle School principal, introduced Miss Flynn, who "successfully completed her five-year probationary period as of December" and has served on the guiding coalition, PLC leadership, the district safe schools team, the emergency response team and the instructional rounds team, Gill said. "She’s been instrumental in adopting our new science curriculum that we’ve been piloting for the past year," Gill said.
Later in the meeting HR Director Miss Ekman introduced Lauren Kordalewski, a kindergarten teacher at Memorial Elementary, and said Kordalewski "has successfully completed her probation as well." Ekman told the board Kordalewski serves on Memorial’s ELA committee, works with the kindergarten PLC team, and participates on MTSS and special education teams to develop and monitor plans for students. Ekman added a personal note: "As an added bonus, she has my daughter Nina’s heart," Ekman said.
Board members offered congratulations and thanked the teachers for their work. The recognitions were presented as informational items; no personnel votes or contract actions were recorded during the meeting.
