The City of Coldwater Downtown Development Authority on Aug. 27 approved a promotions committee work plan to spend $700 on parade banners that will identify recurring participants in downtown parades and carry the downtown Coldwater logo.
Courtney, presenting for the promotions committee, said the committee consulted parade volunteers and identified around nine groups that regularly appear in the Halloween and Christmas parades but often lack standardized labeling. The plan calls for Integrity Apparel to print the banners; the volunteer parade group will store and steward them between events so the DDA would not have to maintain storage or staffing beyond the initial purchase.
"So a way for us being involved, but not, not having having to have a lot of bodies involved necessarily," Courtney said, explaining the committee's aim to provide downtown branding without adding event staffing requirements.
A motion to approve the work plan and expenditure passed on an aye vote.
Ending: The promotions committee will confirm the final list of groups to be labeled and coordinate with parade volunteers on storage and use.
