Tibbetts theater staff provided an update to the DDA board May 28 saying the theater has a new, upgraded light board and four programmable moving lights paid for in part by donations from the Coldwater Noon Club and the Coldwater Sunrise Rotary Club.
Christine Delaney, speaking for Tibbetts, described the changes as an investment in stage lighting and said the upgrades require new capabilities on the control computer. She thanked both local service clubs for stepping up to fund the equipment in time for summer theater.
Delaney also previewed upcoming programming: Popcorn Theater opens Friday with Dragons Love Tacos (with a scripted parenthetical, “but not spicy ones”), followed the next week by Million Dollar Quartet. She said technical staff and the company were already in rehearsal and that summer shows will begin as scheduled.
Delaney cautioned that federal-level funding cuts to the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts could trickle down and affect local arts funding in future budget cycles, adding that the theater will “survive this” but noted potential impacts to next year’s capital and operational funding needs.
Board members asked no formal questions requiring action; the update was informational.
