The City of Coldwater Board of Public Utilities voted to forward the proposed fiscal year 2025–26 budget to City Council after staff presented a final draft that incorporated March financials and refined depreciation calculations.
Carmen Cardenas, assistant director of finance, told the board the budget presented in April was refined but that there were no material changes affecting cash flow. "Overall, there were no material changes that impact cash flow," Cardenas said. She said the final draft includes an estimated $3.8 million to be invested back into system equity across BPU services.
Staff noted the budget already assumed the proposed water and wastewater rate adjustments under consideration and that capital budgeting schedules accompany the draft. The board approved the motion to forward the budget package to City Council for review and action.
The approval sends the budget to council as part of the usual municipal process; staff indicated the board will present the budget and associated capital items at the council review and that no additional material modifications were made since the April presentation.
