City honors OJT students; two give presentations on IT and marketing work

Two On-the-Job Training (OJT) students presented to the Coldwater City Council on their year of work experience with city departments and received council appreciation.
Tony, an IT OJT student from Bronson Junior-Senior High School, described projects including a script to automatically capture BitLocker keys, work learning KACE inventory tools, and replacing a device-report workflow tied to a device-management product. “Some projects that I did while I was here is I created a script to automatically grab BitLocker keys and identifiers,” Tony told council. He said the OJT helped him discover a passion for coding; he expects to pursue a computer-science degree at Baker College online.
Grace presented on her OJT in the community engagement/marketing department. She said she learned photography (manual camera settings), Photoshop and graphic design and created campaign materials for Strawberry Fest, Mother-and-Son Night and Winterfest. She noted improvements to department materials, use of real staff photos for brush-pickup promotion, and that she will work on her family’s farm over the summer before taking classes at Kellogg Community College in the fall.
Council thanked both students for their contributions. Staff noted that the OJT placements provide workforce experience and help city departments with projects and outreach.
