Coldwater City Council approves routine items and several project bids; multiple ordinances introduced

The Coldwater City Council on April 28 approved routine business and a series of resolutions and introductions that advance street projects, public art placements, temporary easement requests and community events.

What the council approved: The council voted to approve the consent agenda, pay bills totaling $180,973 and adopt a set of resolutions including a Memorial Day event authorization and two public-art license agreements. Council also approved bid awards for two street projects: Butters Avenue (low bid $796,423.32, with a $385,000 Michigan Department of Transportation grant) and the North Clay reconstruction contract (low bid $1,427,152.45).

Other actions: The council approved a temporary street closure for the Coldwater Noon Club event on Aug. 2 and authorized the purchase of a replacement heavy-duty truck under the state's MiDEAL purchasing program. Council introduced — but did not yet adopt — two ordinances: a rezoning request for 50 North Hatcher Street (ordinance No. 8-71) and an amendment concerning tattoo establishments in portions of the C-2 commercial district (ordinance No. 8-72).
